The Employment Equity Plan
Section 20 (1) of the Employment Equity Act no of 1998 requires a designated employer to develop and implement an Employment Equity plan. The University has employed more than 150 staff members which makes it a designated employer therefore it must have a plan as a guiding instrument for the implementation of Employment Equity. The plan is used as a map of how and when the University is going to reach its Employment Equity target.
The plan was developed in consultation with all stakeholders of the University. The University decided to have a five year plan which runs from 01 September 2010 to 31 August 2015. The plan has set targets for each reporting period. The targets are used when recruiting staff members, when analysing our achievements in a particular year and or in a University quarter. The plan will be revised again in 2015.
