Support staff working hours
Those members of the support staff employed from 1 July 2009 are required to work 40 hours per week, usually from 08h00 to 17h00 subject to operational demands.
For others the minimum is 37.5 working hours per week.
Exceptions to these working hours are those applicable to staff members in Food Services, Housekeeping Services and various sections of the Estates Division. These are as follows:
All catering staff from Grades 1-9 in Food Services work no more than 89.5hours in a two week cycle consistent with the requirements of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and as negotiated. They work shifts that include alternate weekends where alternate Thursdays are days off.
Grades 1-9 staff members in Housekeeping Services who work in Residences work no more than 86 hours in a two week cycle consistent with the requirements of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and as negotiated. They work shifts that include alternate weekends where alternate weekends are days off.
Staff members in Engineering, Transport, Mechanical, Building Maintenance and Electrical Sections work as follows:
Monday to Thursday: 08h00 - 13h00 and 14h00 to 17h00
Friday: 08h00 – 13h00 and 14h00 to 16h00
Central Cleaning Services
With effect from 23 July 2012 staff in this area work from 7am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
