Funeral Cover

Grades 6 and above

Membership of RUMED automatically entitles staff to Funeral Benefits for all registered dependants on the medical aid. This is at a nominal cost which, like the medical aid contribution itself, is subsidised on a 50/50 basis.
Upon a claim, the payout would be R9000 per approved beneficiary.

Grades 1 to 5

For those staff who have elected to join RUMED, the benefits indicated above are applicable. All staff on grades 1 to 5 are required to contribute towards a NBC Funeral Policy for a premium of R16.35 (subject to change). The policy covers the primary staff member, his/her spouse and dependants. The payout is up to R10000. A further R3000 funeral cover ‘top-up’ forms part of the NBC Provident Fund and is underwritten by SAfrican Insurance Co Ltd.
