Referencing
As publishing scientists, we all detest the fact that we have to reference differently for each paper we publish, but it just has to be done. It is just a fact of academic and we just swallow hard. The style of referencing to be followed is that of the new format for the AFRICAN JOURNAL OF MARINE SCIENCE. Please note that marks will be deducted from an essay with incorrect and/or incomplete referencing.
The format for a book is:
Hilborn R, Walters CJ 1992. Quantitative Fisheries Stock Assessment. Choice, Dynamics and Uncertainty. New York:Chapman and Hall.
Press WH, Teukolsky SA, Vettering WT, Flannery BP. 1997. Numerical Recipes in C: the Art of Scientific Computing (2nd edn). Cambridge:University Press.
For a chapter in a book:
Bagen TB. 1970. Early life history. In: Rick F (ed) Assessment of Fish Production. 3. Freshwaters. Oxford:Blackwell. pp 16-32.
Payne AIL, Punt AE. 1995. Biology and fisheries of the South African Cape hakes (M. capensis and M. paradoxus). In: Alheit J, Pitcher TJ (eds) Hake: Biology, Fisheries and Markets. London:Chapman and Hall. pp 15-47.
