Staff receive upgrade computers from the labs. These are refurbished with new keyboards and screens where necessary and stay in use for almost 9 years.
Licensing for software is managed centrally and in addition staff have access to the Microsoft Home Use facility while they are employed at the University. Click here to access our Software page.
A quota system manages bandwidth use. Staff who overshoot their quota are restricted in their internet connectivity for a short while unless there is sufficient evidence that the download was for research purposes. Increased internet bandwidth over time has reduced the occurrence of such inconveniences.
