Facilities & Communications
The Facilities & Communications section is responsible for two loosely-related aspects of ICTs on campus: telecommunications (i.e. phones) and IT facilities.
This section is overseen by the Manager: Facilities & Communications, currently Mr John Stevens.
Facilities & Communications consists of two sub-sections:
Switchboard
The Switchboard answers all incoming calls to the University, and routes them appropriately. They also handle telephone-related faults, and manage the University's relationship with Telkom and other providers.
Facilities
The Facilities sub-section is responsible for the planning and project management of the IT-related components in all building projects (new buildings & refurbishments). It also ensures there are physical routes between buildings that can be used to provide network and telecommunications services.
