Support
The Support section is the public face of the Division. It is responsible for all routine interaction between the Division and its clients.
This section is overseen by the Manager: Support, currently Ms Tracey Chambers.
The section consists of a number of specialised sub-sections:
Help Desk
The Help Desk provides front-line, first-tier IT support. These are the people who answer They're responsible for categorising problems and directing them appropriately within the Division. They also make sure that requests are dealt with timeously, and handle follow ups.
IT Support Technicians
The IT Support Technicians provide second-tier IT support, dealing with more complex or time-consuming problems that cannot be resolved by the Help Desk.
This section reports to the Assistant Manager: Support, currently Ms Akeelah Langson.
Desktop & Imaging
The Desktop & Imaging sub-section is a team of specialists who provide third-tier support for desktop systems on campus. They're responsible for producing and maintaining the University's standard desktop configurations, and for producing the software images that are used in public and departmental laboratories.
Public Lab Administration
The Public Lab Administration sub-section is responsible for overseeing all aspects of public computer labs on campus, including handling booking requests and ensuring that the labs are properly maintained.
Public labs are overseen by Ms Dianne Amos.
IT Shop
The IT Shop provides a convenient way for staff and students to purchase computers and periferals, either for departmental or personal use.
In addition, this section is responsible for managing printing facilities on campus as well as the PC upgrade policy.
