Fulbright South Africa Post-Graduate Studies Program
Deadline for Applications: April 20, 2012
The Fulbright South Africa Post-Graduate Studies Program will be accepting applications for the 2013-14 U.S. academic year until April 20, 2012. This program provides South Africans the opportunity to pursue Master’s or Ph.D. degrees at U.S. academic institutions. South African Ph.D. students can also use this program for a one-year non-degree program to conduct research and/or take courses at a U.S. academic institution. The program is open to South African residents and permanent residents who have a Bachelor degree and/or Honours for the Master’s program or a Master’s degree for the Doctoral program. The study grants are competitive and awarded for a period of two years. Fulbright scholarships are among the most prestigious scholarships in the world, and allows for study, research and professional exchanges at institutions/universities in the United States. Information will, among other, be given on the following funding programmes:
- SA Student programme (for research and postgraduate studies in the United States for a period of 1 year or longer) – Call for applications currently open – Closing Date: April 20, 2012
- SA Scholar or Researcher Programme (for researchers in possession of a PhD to lecture and/or do research in the United States for a period of 3 – 9 months)
- Hubert H. Humprey Programme (for mid-career professionals to spend 9 months in the United States for study and professional experience)
- U.S. Scholar Programme (to have U.S. senior academics lecture and conduct research in South Africa for a semester of academic year)
- U.S. Specialist Programme (to host senior academics or professionals from the United States for 2 – 6 weeks to serve as consultants on curriculum, staff development, institutional planning, etc)
- U.S. Student Programme (to have U.S. postgraduate students, young professionals or artists study or conduct research in South Africa for 1 academic year)
