eduroam (Internet connectivity)
![]() |
eduroam is a secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. It allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop.
How to use this service at other participating institutions:
Rhodes students who visit another participating institution (for instance NMMU, UCT, Oxford, or Yale) can connect to the "eduroam" wireless network and get instant, free access to the Internet.
-
Sign up for the Student Networking service at Rhodes.
-
Connect to the "eduroam" wireless network at the participating institution.
-
Log in using your Rhodes username and password: You will need to add “@campus.ru.ac.za” to your username (making it the same as your email address).
-
There are instructions for Connecting Windows 7 to eduroam available; Windows XP users who’ve connected to Rhodes’ normal wireless networks should already have the software they need (RUSecureW2) installed. Instructions for other operating systems are available at eduroam USA and eduroam Asia Pacific. Further assistance can be obtained from our Help Desk.
