Getting to Rhodes
Directions
The main event of our programme will be taking place in the Arts Major lecture theatre.
If you're new to Grahamstown, there are maps available to help you find your way into town and onto campus.
Arts Major can be found on the first floor of the New Arts building, which is located on the right-hand side of Artillery Road. Drive onto campus at Prince Alfred street, turn left into Lower University avenue, and left again into Artillery road. The New Arts building is located between the Department of Physics and Electronics and Drostdy Barracks, and houses, amongst other things Jacaranda computer lab (the sign for this is visible from the road).
The Information Technology Division's offices are located in Struben building, which is on the other side of Artillery road, immediately oppose the New Arts building.
Transport
The closest airport is Port Elizabeth International. A number of companies offer shuttle services between the airport in PE and Grahamstown, including RhodesTrip and JC's Shuttles.
Most major bus services stop in Grahamstown, and have a request stop on Rhodes' campus.
Accomodation
Our Conferences Office maintains some information on accomodation in Grahamstown. There are a number of hotels and bed & breakfasts within easy walking distance of the University.
