Two new PhD graduates from the School of Journalism and Media Studies received their degrees at the recent graduation ceremony.
Dr Margaret Jjuuko’s thesis was titled “An exploration of how CBS radio represents and constructs environmental issues relating to Lake Victoria, Uganda, and the negotiation of the radio programmes by lakeside communities”. Her thesis was supervised by Prof Jeanne Prinsloo. Dr Jacinta Mwende Maweu received a PhD for her thesis “An investigation into how journalists experience economic and political pressures on their ethical decisions at the nation media group in Kenya”, supervised by Prof Herman Wasserman. Here Dr Maweu, Prof Wasserman, Dr Jjuuko and Prof Jeanne Prinsloo celebrate their success at the Rhodes Garden Party.
