Iindaba ziyafika
The Iindaba Ziyafika ("the news is coming") project is exploring the answers to two interrelated and intriguing questions.

CellPhone Journalism
First, might cell phones enable people to receive news media information in new (and 'better') ways?
Secondly, through this, can cell phones enable people to participate better in a communication flow that enhances their lives as citizens and people?
Iindaba Ziyafika is designed to explore answers to these overarching questions, with a particular focus on young people in Grahamstown, and on creating communication that connects people to power and economic opportunity.
The project won a US$630,000 grant from the Knight Foundation in 2008, and is managed by the MTN Chair of Media and Mobile Communications, Harry Dugmore.
