Prof Nicolson’s visited Rhodes Law Faculty from the 15th to 19th February 2016 as one of its 5 visiting professors/lecturers.  Prof Nicolson’s social justice-related research is consistent with the Law Faculty’s mission of producing students who are ‘responsible, productive and ethical members of society’. His week consisted of two intensive workshops with the law clinic and staff around lawyers’ ethics and writing for publication. He also inspired students to ‘study for a purpose’ and to consider the ethics of their actions as future legal practitioners. During the week, staff and students were exposed to Prof Nicolson’s various views based on feminist theory and moral psychology. The Faculty looks forward to Prof Nicolson’s further visit to Rhodes in November when these themes will be explored further.
