Computer Laboratory: Users must be registered library users. Law students will get priority access during peak times. All general rules apply in computer lab. Electronic Resources: Millennium Catalogue for library material (OPAC), Research Links (legal data base),Five photocopiers are available for student use. Please note that money can only be loaded onto student cards at the Main Library and Eden Grove. Short Loan Collection Resources: Short loan is a reserved collection of books and photocopied notes set aside by the lecturers. This ensures that essential reading is available to all students. Book Collection Resources: Books on law and related subjects can be located on the shelves directly across from the reception desk. Books are arranged in disciplines/subjects according to the Dewey classification system. All books are catalogued according to author/title on the Rhodes OPAC System, which can be accessed at any computer on campus. Students should use the OPAC to search for the book they need, make a note of the Dewey number, and locate it on the shelves. Journal Collection: South African journales can be found in the same area as the photocopiers. Foreign journals are doung in the Undergrad Study Area. All are arranged alphabetically according to title. Find the correct shelo by checking the alphabetical lists at the beginning of the rows. An extra set of South African Law Journals is housed in the PPS Wing. Primary Legal Resources: Most important are the South African Law Reports (4 sets in the Library), and All South African Law Reports (AllSA), as well as other Soth African Law reports on specific areas of law. The Law Library also houses English, American, Canadian and a number of other international sets of law reports. Legislation and other government publications include statutes and gazettes ad the publication of the South African Law Constittion. Reference works held include Law of South Africa, Current Law, and legal dictionaries. |
