Work Experience: From being a qualified Pre-school teacher (of three year olds) teaching in Thembisa during the 80’s where we were often taken to school in the old SAPS ratties to safeguard us, to having to learn bookkeeping. With a little assistance from our Accountants, I became quite adept at it. After working for Prof Schafer when he had his private law firm, I ended up here in early 2005, working mornings only.
I don’t only do accounts, I help out just about everywhere, even manning reception and switchboard, though I can’t speak a word of Xhosa - the clients understand and struggle along with me. I started helping with students this year and thoroughly enjoy the interaction with them.

My duties as a messenger are delivering post, court document, cash deposit, collect petty cash and stationery. I sometimes do admin work such photocopying, faxing and answering the telephone and assist the clients as well. This is my 10th year offering my services.

Work Experience: After serving articles in Pietermaritzburg I was admitted as an attorney in 1975. I subsequently lectured in the Department of Private Law at the University of Fort Hare for eighteen months, and practiced as an attorney from 1977 to January 1981 in Grahamstown. I then moved to Johannesburg and worked as a legal advisor and manager with a large mining group for seventeen years. In 1998 I joined the Johannesburg office of the Legal Resources Centre as an attorney with a focus on environmental justice issues. I joined the Rhodes Law Clinic in April 2005 as the Director of the Queenstown Rural Legal Centre, and was in addition appointed as the Clinic’s Deputy Director in April 2007. With effect fro 1 January 2013 I will be transferring o the Gramastown office of the Law Clinic as a consultant attorney.
