Google Scholar article access – the Library is behind it!
Date Released: Tue, 13 November 2012 11:55 +0200
Most students (and academics) head for Google Scholar when doing research, and usually find what they want. Because of this, some have questioned why the Library spends money on expensive journals when “they are free on Google Scholar”. WRONG – not free! Many links to the full-text are provided because of the Library subscriptions. When you see “Article available” on the right hand side of your Google Scholar results, remember that this is because Google is recognizing that Rhodes Library pays for this access. Also, most importantly, remember that you need to link to GS via the Library webpage (Quick links) so that you will be recognized as a Rhodes user.
