 Joe Slovo House is the latest addition to Lilian Ngoyi Hall. It was occupied for the first time in 2009 by 105 young gentlemen from all across the world.
The fundamental principle which exists in the residence is that of respect; respect for others, respect for ones surroundings and respect for ones own self. The residence strongly emphasises academic excellence. This was displayed when the top Humanities student in the Hall came from Joe Slovo in 2009 and the top Science student in 2010. Various inter-res awards are given for outstanding academic achievement. Not only does this residence foster academics, it also encourages excellence in all spheres, for example sports and cultural activities. Four of the winning team of the 2010 Boat racing event came from Joe Slovo House. Inter-residence sport is also a major event for Joe Slovo, with the residence finishing 6th in 2010. We aim to be the best!
