House Warden - Debbie Ainslie

Debbie Ainslie - House Warden
In January 2010 I joined the Victoria Mxenge Residence as warden. My name is Deborah Ainslie, but am most often called Debbie, or other variations and diminutives.
At the time I was employed at the Rhodes University Law Clinic but I am now a full-time, final year LLB student.
I believe that one should make the best of opportunities that present themselves, such as not squandering the chance to get a degree. I simultaneously believe that life is more than studying and then working until you retire, and that friendships and other interests whether sport, community work, art, music, etc all add to the quality of life.
That said, there is a time to knuckle down and there's a time to relax, the trick is to distinguish what time it is. Author Stephen Covey says 'begin with the end in mind' - I think that's probably appropriate advice - in many situations. Definitely applies to that final goal of walking across that stage at graduation.
