An investigation into the role of Visual Technology for the Autonomous Learning of Mathematics (VITAL) video clips in the teaching of Mathematics in selected South African secondary schools: a case study.

Project outline:

This research is being done in conjunction with a joint initiative between Rhodes University and the University of Applied Sciences, Northwestern Switzerland and involves the following:
The distribution of short animated video clips which strive to explain mathematical concepts through the use of natural materials which will be disseminated via cell phone technology to Grade 9 teachers in two research sites, namely Port Alfred and Bathurst, Eastern Cape, and the examination of the role played by these in both my own and other teachers' lessons.
