An investigation into the use of traditional Xhosa dance to teach mathematics: A case study in a Grade 7 class.
Project outline:
My study is about how to embed and integrate a familiar and popular indigenous practice into the mathematics curriculum. In particular I wish to focus on traditional dance in order to create an opportunity for learners to learn mathematics within a familiar context.
The study seeks to:
- To explore the mathematics that is embedded in traditional Xhosa dance.
- To design, develop and evaluate a learning programme that is based on the traditional Xhosa dance performances.
