Introduction

The scorpionflies of southern Africa are currently classified into one family, the hangingflies. The list of species is compiled from the catalogue of Afrotropical Mecoptera by Londt (1994). The distributions are taken from Londt (1994), and the periods of adult activity follow Londt (1995).
