Family: PHYLLOXERIDAE

A few of the aphid names in this list differ from those used in the published sources due to previous misidentifications that have been corrected, or because they have become invalid due to recently-published nomenclatural changes; such names have been updated. No new unpublished information appears in this list. All these species have been recorded as occurring in South Africa in the referenced articles.

The family-group classification used in the list follows Blackman & Eastop (1994). The subfamily and tribal classification of Phylloxeridae is incomplete and has not yet been properly worked out, so it has been omitted from the list. Information about the aphids and their phylogenetic position can be obtained from The Hemiptera page of The Tree of Life.
