Chris Hani House started its life as Kimberley 7 (K7), and as a result of this unusual name, its soccer team is still called AK47 – and it is a team that inspires both fear and respect in its opponents on campus – the soccer team plays in Black and Gold, and is a pride of the residence.

Chris Hani Residence was officially opened on 23 April 2009 by Chris Hani's daughter, Ms Lindiwe Hani.
