Rhodes is very privileged to have a few international stars performing in collaboration with our music department this year. Please first welcome South African born concert pianist Jan Hugo to the Beethoven Room, together with his wife, the French born Soprano, Clara Hugo.

The Voice department will be having their first concert for the year today at 19h30. This concert is called ‘Go for Baroque’ because of the nature of our repertoire. We will be singing Baroque arias called ‘Arie Antiche’ (made famous by opera artists like Cecilia Bartoli and others) and pieces from famous Oratorios. Arie Antiche like , Caro mio Ben, Gia il sole dal gange, and Danza, danza, fanciulla gentile’ will be sung from composers like Caccini, Caldara, Bononcini, Giordani, Monteverdi and Pergolesi. The Oratorios will be from ‘ The Messiah’ by GF Handel and ‘The Mass in C minor’ by WA Mozart. Garreth Robertson will be accompanying on piano and harpsichord. Please join us for a journey into the mystique of these Baroque and Oratorio composers.
