Blessings is currently pursuing his Master’s in Labour Policy Studies at Rhodes. His focus of interest is on how government pro-poor policies and their strategy interventions have impacted in the livelihoods of those involved in the informal economy. The objective of the study research is to assess how service delivery as a government intervention strategy has assisted the informal sector to fight the overarching issues of poverty and unemployment and to promote growth in South Africa. The research project is using Duncan Village in East London as its case study.
Blessings was a recipient of National Research Funding(DST) and Govan Mbeki Funding awarded in 2013 & 2016 respectively for his contribution in research studies on pro poor energy policies in SA. Blessings has also been involved in the education and training sector for the past 3 years where he has conducted professional skills development trainings for various government departments such as SALGA and Rural Development. He is a qualified trainer/facilitator and assessor registered with Services and LG Seta..
