Communications at Rhodes
Welcome to the Communications section of Rhodes University’s Communications & Development Division. Our role is to build and maintain the reputation of Rhodes University through effective communications with the University’s internal and external publics. The section manages a range of marketing and communications services including external press relations, internal communications, corporate publications and branding.
All media queries are channelled thorugh this section and news is generated to inform both staff and the general public of interesting developments and events. Please transfer any sensitive press queries directly to the Division. In addition, please notify the Division urgently regarding any crises on campus as they will handle all media queries in such cases.
The Communications section is responsible for:
- Developing marketing and advertising strategies that build and maintain the Rhodes University brand and corporate identity
- Media and public relations
- Issuing all press releases and statements on behalf of the Rhodes University community
- Editing and producing all Rhodes University corporate printed publications
- Editing and producing the staff newsletter, Rhodos
- Editing and producing the Rhodes alumni publication, special edition Rhodos
- Providing information about Rhodes University to external and internal audiences
- Managing the content of the top levels of the Rhodes website and helping the Web Unit develop University Web Strategy
- Moderating several email distribution lists for use as internal communications tools
