The internal communications officer is responsible for communicating important decisions and other relevant information that affect the Rhodes University management, academic and support staff community.
Staff Newsletter
The internal communications officer edits Rhodos, the Rhodes University staff newsletter. The newsletter carries news and information about events, awards, projects and developments both on and off campus. Ten editions of Rhodos are printed throughout the academic year for distribution among staff members of the University. Rhodos is also available online on the Rhodes University home page. To submit a story to Rhodos email your request to z.matiwana@ru.ac.za
Internal e-mail distribution lists
This office is also repsonsible for four e-mail distribution lists that serve and important internal communications portals for staff members. These only for use by Rhodes University staff and students and include:
- Toplist (e-mail toplist@lists.ru.ac.za) – for policy-related matters and important administrative messages
- Eventslist (e-mail events@lists.ru.ac.za) – for the announcement of Rhodes functions and events
- HoDlist (e-mail hod@lists.ru.ac.za) – for channelling messages to Heads of Departments/Divisions only
- Studentnews (e-mail z.matiwana@ru.ac.za for more information) – for communicating with both undergraduate and postgraduate students
