Research Ethics

Rhodes is aware of the importance of creating suitable protocols on vital issues such as ethics.

The Senate of the University has an Ethical Standards Committee which was inaugurated in 1984. Policies have been put in place for the following subjects:

• Ethical Standards Policy
• Human Subjects Policy
• Ethical Guidelines
• Research Protocols

Our researchers, Rhodes academic staff and the postgraduates, are required to consider these ethical standards and to comply not only with protocol created by Rhodes as an institution but also are guided by Human Sciences Research Council of South Africa (HSRC), SA Medical Research Council and the Society for Neuroscience (USA).
