Mission Statement
This site is dedicated to gathering all the information needed for a prospective and/or current postdoc at Rhodes. The site is developed and maintained by the Post Doctoral Liaison Sub-Committee. This committee, made up of postdocs and representing postdocs within the University structures (such as Faculty, Senate and the JRC) is resurging after a period of obscurity. With your help we can ensure the needs of us postdocs are met!
The site is still quite new (Jan 2011) and is still under construction so if you have any suggestions for content please email the sitemanager.
DR. PUJA RAY IS AWARDED THE INDIAN SOCIETY OF WEED SCIENCE (ISWS) - YOUNG SCIENTISTS AWARD 2012
In March of this year Dr. Puja Ray was invited to attend the Biennial Conference of Indian Society of Weed Science (ISWS) – on Weed Threat to Agriculture Biodiversity and Environment, 19-20 April 2012, at Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur, India to accept the ISWS- Young Scientists Award- 2012.
This is a very prestigious award which has been instituted to encourage young scientists in the field of weed research below the age of 35. Her work in the field of weed Biological Control for the past 8-10 years, including 2 years of Postdoctoral work in the Entomology Department with Prof. Martin Hill at Rhodes University has earned her the recognition of her peers.

You can add your hyperlinked, unique ResearcherID to your e-mail signature, website, etc., for easy access. ResearcherID also provides an easy way to view your citations and h-index.
After registering, you are assigned an individual ID number that stays with you over the course of your career, regardless of name changes or change in institution affiliation.
ResearcherID allows you to create an online Profile for showcasing your publication history. It is designed to associate you with your scholarly work, thus assuring an accurate record of output and attribution. It also provides a gateway for colleagues quickly to locate your published work and to identify you as a potential collaborator.

FORMATION OF A NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS
The formation of a National Postdoc Association is currently under way, establishing an organisation that will represent postdocs across South Africa. The Rhodes postdoc committee is involved in this process. Currently, funding is being obtained for the establishment of this association and the development of a constitution to determine eligibility for membership and decisionmaking structures.

Rising Powers and Interdependent Futures
The ESRC is inviting proposals for international collaborative research projects under the ‘Rising Powers and Interdependent Futures’ initiative as a major investment contributing to its three priorities, especially Economic Performance and Sustainable Growth; and Vibrant and Fair Society.
