Travel & Subsistence Grants
As a postdoctoral fellow at Rhodes University you are entitled to apply for Travel & Subsistence funding to allow you to attend conferences through the Joint Research Council (JRC). The Travel and Subsistence Committee meets monthly at the beginning of the month. Meeting dates and application deadlines are notified via the Research listserve (subscribe here). Funding outcomes will be e-mailed the day the Committee meets.
Please submit application forms for local Group travel and individual international travel well in advance of the proposed travel date as the travel and subsistence grant is generally over subscribed. The guidelines below exist to fund areas of research productivity and potential as equitably as possible.
This funding is only available once every two years for postdocs (usually only in the second year of a two year contract) to a maximum of R30 000.00 and will be based on your accredited outputs (please see below). Upon returning from your conference you will be required to submit a report to the Research Office.
