Jo-Anne de la Mare
Jo graduated with a PhD in Biochemistry in April 2012 under Dr Adrienne Edkins and Prof Greg Blatch. Her area of research is concerned with understanding the role of the tumour micro-environment and cancer stem cells in metastasis. She is currently engaged in a 5 month temporary lecturer position to replace one of the staff who is on maternity leave and sabbatical. She is a local and is married with a 2.5 year old daughter named Rachel and a 13 year old stepson named Bradley. She firmly believes that as Post-docs we need to become a more close-knit community as the challenges we face are unique and are often overlooked in terms of the university's priorities!
