Doctor of Pharmacy Programme
The role of the pharmacist is expanding and greater emphasis is being placed on the knowledge of medications and the use of this knowledge to improve the utilization of medications and care received by the patients. The Doctor of Pharmacy degree is a post-graduate degree that supports this expanding role. The programme’s goals are to create a graduate that can:
Provide pharmaceutical care to patients with complex medication problems
Develop systems to support rational and appropriate drug prescribing
Provide specialised medicines information and education to health care professionals
Develop and evaluate drug use policies, formulary submissions and rational treatment protocols
Conduct pharmacy practice research
