Rhodes to co-host South African Institute of Physics conference 2015

The Department of Physics and Electronics will co-host the 2015 South African Institute of Physics conference with Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

The meeting will be held from the 29th of June to the 3rd of July at the Boardwalk Convention Centre in Port Elizabeth.  Some 360 delegates have registered for the conference which will be a forum for presentation and discussion of the latest developments in various areas of physics including Condensed matter physics, nuclear physics, physics education and space science.  There will be plenary presentations, parallel sessions, poster sessions and two public outreach talks.  The conference will be chaired by Prof M L Chithambo and Prof Andre Venter from the physics department at NMMU.

The meeting will be officially opened on Tuesday, 30 June 2015 by Dr Clayton, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Development at Rhodes University, Dr Clayton.
