Department of Political and international studies Masters Student, Edison Nengola attends 9TH Tripartite Negotiations, held in Walvis Bay, Namibia. The 9th Tripartite Trade Negotiating Forum (TTNF) was held from 26-29 January 2014. The TTNF looked at outstanding issues on the draft agreement for the setting up a Free Trade Area (FTA) between the COMESA, SADC and EAC Member States. The meeting also scrutinised progress reports submitted by the various Technical Working Groups on Rules of Origin, Customs Cooperation, Non Trade Barriers, Trade Remedies and Dispute Settlement. The issues discussed included articles on the ‘Most Favoured Nation clause’, ‘export subsidies’ and the definition of ‘vessels’ in the ‘Annex on Rules of origin’.
