Administrative cultures

It is often felt that the administrators of the university operate in a different institutional culture to the academics and that part of the misunderstanding that sometimes occurs between these two realms is akin to the cultural misunderstanding that sometimes occurs when a person goes to a different country where the cultural norms and expectations differ from their own taken for granted assumptions about the world. To understand more about this would require characterising the cultures of these two realms through the experiences and practices of those who inhabit them.
