Date Released: Wed, 29 July 2015 19:08 +0200
Dear Postgraduate Scholars, Post-docs, and Colleagues
In addition to the introductory workshops on research design and academic writing, this semester, we are pleased to announce that the Centre for Postgraduate Studies will also be running a short course entitled 'Writing an Academic Journal Article for Publication'.
The short course is designed to provide postgraduate scholars at RU with an opportunity to work through the process of producing an Academic Journal Article for publication via a supported process that will take place over a three month period using a mix of contact session and on-line engagement. The course is practice-based, and the outcome of the course will be a publishable academic journal article. A certificate of competence will be issued for full participation in the course, when the academic paper is submitted for peer review. Further details of the course are contained in the attached CPGS SC Flyer or on the www.ru.ac.za/cpgs website.
The first course will be run by two experienced journal editors (Prof Heila Lotz-Sisitka and Dr Sherran Clarence), and we will also draw on specialist expertise to assist with peer review processes.
The course is open to all postgraduate scholars at RU, all RU post-doctoral scholars, and to RU academics who are within a 5 year post-doc period after completing a PhD. Supervisors who are co-authoring papers with their postgraduate scholars may attend some or all of the programme should they wish to. The course is limited to 30 participants on a first come, first serve basis.
The dates for the first course are:
- Session 1: 30 August & 1 September 2015
- Session 2: 6 October 2015
- Session 3: 10 November 2015
PLEASE NOTE: Participants must be prepared to attend ALL sessions before signing up.
