Vice-Chancellor's Section 16(2) Appointees
In line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (1993) section 16, the Vice-Chancellor of Rhodes University delegates responsibility – not accountability – to one or more Section 16(2) appointee(s).
- Section 16(2) appointees must ensure that managers and heads of departments in their areas of responsibility/accountability fulfil the duties of the employer.
- 16(2) appointees also sign legal appointment letters for health and safety reps, first aiders and fire marshals.
