Responsible Hazardous Waste Disposal
The University is guided by a number of laws, including the Environmental Conservation Act of 1989, the National Water Act, and the National Environmental Management Act. In line with its Environmental Policy, the University strive to comply with responsible hazardous waste disposal practices. To this end, all staff and students at Rhodes are required to identify and minimise hazardous wastes on campus, and dispose of it in a socially and environmentally responsible way. It should be born in mind that toxic waste disposal is a costly exercise, and is even more so if the nature of the toxic waste is not made known.
