Safety Monitoring at Rhodes University
In terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (1993), health and safety in the workplace should be monitored on a regular basis. At Rhodes University, quarterly inspection reports should be submitted to the Safety, Health & Environmental Officer on approx 15th March, June, September & December, OR handed in at the quarterly health & safety committee meetings.
To help Health & Safety Reps complete their inspection reports, various checklists are provided below. These are templates designed for a range of diverse work activities and functions on campus and should not be seen as exhaustive or exclusive. Health & Safety Reps are encouraged to use these and expand them where other important information needs to be included.
