Michael Jana is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Political and Administrative Studies at University of Malawi, Chancellor College. He joined the Department in 2005. He has also worked as a Sessional Lecturer at University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa in the Department of Political Studies and in the Development Studies Programme. Michael has over 11 years experience conducting, coordinating and teaching social research in over 17 developing countries in Southern and West Africa, and the Middle East. This research has culminated in publications in international peer reviewed journals and book chapters, as well as conference papers. Michael has also used the research findings and experience in the field of Development to develop manuals and toolkits on Social Research and Social Change for such international and regional organizations as Oxfam, Save the Children International, and Soul City Institute. These manuals and tools are used by numerous civil society organizations in over 17 developing countries in Africa and the Middle East. Michael is also involved in curriculum development of a new Degree programme on Law Enforcement – a joint programme between Malawi Police College and University of Malawi, Chancellor College.
