The Annual Sports Council Sports Awards will be taking place on Friday, 19 October at the 1820 Monument – the theme for this year in THE SPIRIT OF PURPLE! This is one of the highlights on the Rhodes Sports Calendar, as it awards top honours to deserving Athletes and Administrators. Clubs work hard at getting these bragging rights.

Awards that are given out at the event include:

Administrator of the Year

Coach of the Year

Performance of the Year

Committee of the Year

Club of the Year

Sportsman of the Year

Sportswoman of the Year

This year, the special guest is Mvuzo Mbebe, an Old Rhodian. Mr Mbebe has just been appointed the CEO of AFCON 2013, and has been serving on a number of Sport Bodies including: 7^th All Africa Games, World Cross Country Championship, World Cup in Athletics to name but a few.
