Friday 19 October 2012, 19h00, Settlers Monument - this is where you would have found the Leaders of Sport from Rhodes University. Yes, this it was the Rhodes Sports Awards Dinner.

With the theme being “THE SPIRIT OF PURPLE” guests could not help but wear a dash of PURPLE! The special guest for the evening was, Mvuzo Mbebe, the AFCON 2013 CEO, a Rhodes Pharmacy Graduate, he was classmates with Prof Rod Walker (current Chairperson the Rhodes Sports Council), and was seated right next to him to catch up on the “good old days”… He gave a moving speech on the role of students in sport and society.

Coach of the Year (Staff) - Antonio Blom (Athletics)

Coach of the Year (Student) - Lance Ho (Archery)

Administrator of the Year - Andrew Lowndes

Committee of the Year  - Rowing Club

Performance of the Year - Pool Club

Most Improved Club of the Year - Pool Club

Club of the Year - Rowing Club  

Sportswoman of the Year  - Natalie Ross (Athletics)

Sportsman of the Year  - Lance Ho (Archery)
