Rhodes pool club to attempt world record

Date Released: Thu, 26 July 2012 08:00 +0200

FOUR members of the Rhodes University Pool Club will be attempting to break a Guinness World Record by playing pool for over 72 hours straight. The attempt will begin on Thursday and end on Sunday. "This event not only appeals to Rhodes students, but also members of the public as they are also encouraged to take part in the event and challenge other players," said the pool club's media representative, Candice Gardner. In conjunction with the record-breaking event, the club will also hold its annual 24-hour event, where four committee members will play pool for 24 hours straight and anyone, even non-club members, can challenge them to a game. There will also be an open pool table for Grahamstown residents. All this will take place in the Purple Horse, at the Rhodes Sports Bar on campus, at the far end of African Street.
