Rifle champs come to G’townDate Released: Fri, 3 May 2013 12:00 +0200
The best Eastern Province (EP) marksmen will once again come to Grahamstown for the EP champs next month. Rhodes University Rifle Club, together with the EP Small-Bore Rifle Association, will host the annual championship at Rhodes on Saturday 11 May.
The competition will be held at the Rhodes Rifle Range. “This has been the host venue for longer than I can remember,” said Rhodes assistant coach Gerrit Vlok.
“Mainly because Grahamstown has the most members in EP. The club is in full swing with a total of 23 competitive shooters.”
The champs will include Three-Positional Championships – the standing, kneeling and prone events.
The Prone champs will start from 9am.
The Rhodes club will be looking to take a number of podium spots after their great performances at the recent South African Target Rifle Association’s Small-Bore Championships.
Rhodes returned to Grahamstown with a total of 19 medals, including seven golds.
