Squash
The Rhodes Squash Club is one of the oldest clubs on campus and one of the oldest squash clubs in the country with a rich heritage stretching back to 1933. The club has produced a host of provincial and national representatives throughout its long history and has maintained this excellence to this day. With a total of 9 courts and the famous clubhouse, The Cowpat, the excellent facilities make it the premier club in the district.
The club has a total of 9 teams participating in the local Makana Winter League and the premier Eastern Province League. The club also attends the USSA Squash tournament every year with teams in both the 1st and 2nd division. The annual Rhodes Open, a Squash SA registered tournament that has been running since 1997, is also a highlight of the year with top South African players regular entrees.
Under the experienced guidance of head coaches Dr Brendan Wilhelmi and Ms Gillian McGregor, players enjoy top quality coaching twice a week and are encouraged to enter tournaments throughout the year with support provided by the club.
