isiXhosa Level 2

The course is a joint effort between the Human Resources Development office and the African Language Studies section of the School of Languages. The course offers members of staff the opportunity to further their learning of isiXhosa in order to be able to converse at a fairly basic level with the University’s vast number of isiXhosa speaking staff, numerous students and members of the public.

Emphasis is placed on being able to converse, not read and/or write the language. Lecture times are balanced between work and personal time in order to accommodate those members of staff whose work does not require of them to speak isiXhosa, but who would like to learn the language as a life or social skill.
