Certificate in Supervision
This programme aims to equip learners with critical knowledge and skills to be effective supervisors.
Learners entering this programme will be expected to have at least a matric qualification or equivalent. The course assessment requires application of the knowledge within the workplace thus the learner must be currently in a supervisory job or working towards a supervisory position or role. The learner’s own knowledge and experience is the foundation on which the course develops further learning.
This course is at NQF level 6, which is the post-matric qualification level, seen to be equivalent to first year degree level. For this reason the programme must be fairly rigorous in terms of academic demands. After successfully completing this course and upon the recommendation of the facilitator, learners will be allowed to register for other higher level certificate programmes offered by the HR Division.
The Certificate in Supervision Course covers the following modules:
• Role of the Supervisor and Emotional Intelligence
• The Business of Higher Education
• Effective Communication
• Problem Solving, Planning and Customer Service
• Team Management
• Conflict Management
• Performance Management
• Diversity Awareness
• Career Management
Please refer to the Course Information document for more details.
Please note that you are required to attend and participate in all the sessions for each module.
