CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
The 10th International Symposium of Human Factors in Organisational Design and Management, “Research for the missing link” is devoted to the management of the complex involvement of humans in their environment. The different approaches of designing work life have to meet at one focus point: the human being. The symposium will provide interdisciplinary platforms to discuss recent developments of managing the human environment system in theory and in practice, aiming for sustainable and effective performance. This includes different environments and cultures, such as in industrially advanced and industrially developing countries, as well as different forms of employment and different production and service industry sectors. Special attention will be drawn to the area of system design and theory-practice transfer. Students and junior researchers are particularly encouraged to participate with reduced fees and economic accommodation.
The Symposium will take place in a typical and real African environment, anyhow one of the safest places in the country. Participants are exposed to splendid lifestyle as well as to heritage and culture, not ignoring the unrivaled developmental problems of this country. This special area of the country has unrivaled natural beauty ranging from mountains and rivers to untouched beaches, together with large amounts of sunshine and amazing cultures of friendly, welcoming people. Added to this is the unparalleled opportunity to see the Big Five and diverse wildlife in their natural, malaria free habitats. Grahamstown is an historic town in the centre of the Eastern Cape, offering much in the way of culture, with numerous historical buildings preserved to date, more than 40 places of worship, many excellent schools and of course world-renowned Rhodes University. This is one of the safest places South Africa can provide for its guests, with great food and comfortable accommodation (from ultra-luxurious to quaint bed and breakfasts).
Conference guests will be offered comprehensive tourist and industry visit packages, making their journey to Grahamstown an unforgettable but yet affordable experience of wildlife, amazing landscape and African work and life culture.
