Configure AVG

Please always use the latest available version of AVG. To obtain the latest version of AVG, please check their website for details.

• Open AVG by double clicking its icon in the system tray

• This will display the 'AVG User Interface' window

• Select 'Tools' and then 'Advanced Settings...'

• This will display the 'Advanced AVG Settings' window

• Select the 'Proxy' tree item
• Select 'Try connecting using proxy and if it fails, connect directly' from the combo box
• Select the 'Manual' radio button
• Enter 'wwwproxy.ru.ac za' in the 'Server:' field
• Enter '3128' in the 'Port:' field
• Check the check box next to 'Use PROXY authentication'
• Select 'Any (default)' from the 'Authentication type:' combo box
• Enter your Rhodes username (e.g., g05z9999) in the 'Username:' field
• Enter your Rhodes password in the 'Password:' field
• Click 'OK'

• Click 'Update now' from the 'AVG User Interface' window
• AVG will check for updates on the Internet. If any are available, they will be downloaded and installed
• Once AVG is up-to-date, you can close the 'AVG User Interface' window. AVG will update itself regularly
