Information Technology — Configuring Software @ Rhodes

While the iPrint server is being configured for Windows 8, you can install residence printers manually by following the steps below.

Important paths to note:

• The Novell iPrint Client compatible with Windows 8: \\rhino.ru.ac.za\sw01\software\public\clients\iprint\Windows 8
• Xerox Global Driver for printing to Xerox MFP's from Windows 8: \\rhino.ru.ac.za\SW01\Software\Public\drivers\Printers\Xerox\Xerox Global Driver
• HP Universal Print Drivers for printing to HP Printers from Windows 8: \\rhino.ru.ac.za\SW01\Software\Public\drivers\Printers\HP\Universal Print Driver

Instructions on how to install:

1. Install the client first, choosing between 32bit and 64bit depending on the version installed. If you don't know which version you've got, see here.
2. Restart the computer.
3. Open the Control Panel.
4. Open Devices and Printers.
5. Add Printer (at the top of the Window).
6. Click "The printer that I want isn't listed".
7. Select "Select a shared printer by name" and type in the following path: http://iprint.ru.ac.za/ipps/Residence - Dingemans - Xerox (adapt the name accordingly, look on the iPrint webpage for the correct names: http://iprint2.ru.ac.za/ipp)
8. When prompted for a Username and Password type in the relevant details.
9. When prompted for a driver click "Have Disk".
10. Click Browse.
11. Type in the path accordingly to select and install the relevant driver.
12. Click Next.
13. Print a test page.
14. Click Finish
